The primary activity of ING Germany is banking, with more than 10 million customers, making it the third largest bank in the country. History
ING Germany, a subsidiary of the Dutch ING Group, is now the third largest bank in Germany with over 10 million customers. Its main headquarters is in Frankfurt am Main, with locations in Berlin, Hanover, and Nuremberg. The company offers a range of products focused on current accounts, real estate finance, savings, consumer loans, and securities. It serves both individuals and businesses, with a dedicated offering for SMEs and the self-employed, as well as a Wholesale Banking segment for large international companies.
Among the key milestones in its development:
- Creation and growth: ING Germany established itself as a major direct bank, focusing on simplicity, digitalization, and competitive products.
- Expansion of the offering: The company gradually expanded its services, notably with real estate financing solutions and investment products.
- Obtaining the Pfandbrief license (2010): In November 2010, ING-DiBa AG obtained the license to issue Hypothekenpfandbriefe (mortgage-backed covered bonds), marking a turning point in its financing strategy and strengthening its position in the real estate finance market.
- Launch of the Pfandbrief issuance program (2011): From May 2011, the bank launched a program to issue these bonds, thus diversifying its refinancing sources.
- Commitment to sustainable finance: ING Germany has developed frameworks for issuing green bonds and is committed to responsible financing, with impact and allocation reports published regularly.

Team
The founder of ING Deutschland is the Dutch company ING Groep N.V., which launched its banking activities in Germany in 1965 under the name Bank für Sparanlagen und Vermögensbildung AG (BSV). The bank was later renamed ING-DiBa and today operates under the name ING Deutschland.
The main members of the management team of ING Deutschland are:
