History
The history of the Raiffeisen company traces its origins back to the 19th century, with the creation of the cooperative movement by Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen. This movement aimed to improve the living conditions of farmers and rural populations through solidarity, mutual assistance, and cooperation. The Raiffeisen model quickly developed in Germany and then internationally, giving rise to a vast network of agricultural cooperatives, banks, and service companies.
The key stages in the development of Raiffeisen include:
- Creation: Founding of the first agricultural cooperatives in the 19th century, based on the principles of mutual assistance and democratic management.
- Product development: Diversification of activities around agriculture, the supply of seeds, fertilizers, crop protection products, crop management, marketing of agricultural products, and the provision of financial services tailored to the rural world.
- Partnerships and acquisitions: Establishment of partnerships with companies in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, as well as with financial institutions, to strengthen the range of services and products.
- Strategic changes: Continuous adaptation to changes in the agricultural sector, integration of new technologies, development of digital platforms (crop management, weather, agricultural markets), and expansion of the offering to rural life management (advice, recipes, marketplace, etc.).
Today, Raiffeisen is a major player in the agricultural and rural sector, offering a complete range of services from production to marketing, including financial management and technological innovation.
